First Latina Female Lead In GTA Franchise Will Be Introduced In Next Game

The first latina female lead in GTA is officially under development

For the first time in Rockstar Games’ history, there’ll be a new Latina female lead in GTA VI. The upcoming sequel to Rockstar’s beloved video game franchise will adapt to the major cultural changes to the company’s culture, according to Bloomberg.

GTA VI underwent numerous rounds of writing, adjusting, and reimagining in relation to the game’s structure as well as the moral principles of Rockstar as a company once they officially began development back in 2014. One of the biggest updates has been the addition of the first Latina female lead in GTA VI who is said to be a part of a Bonnie and Clyde-esque duo in Vice City, a popular beach city location amongst the game’s fans which resembles Miami, Florida.

Rockstar enlisted a significantly more diverse team to prioritize cultural inclusion with the series’ hallmark political humor in an effort to fight the pervasive misogyny of their earlier games. The production schedule as well as the breadth of the game were affected by the ethical changes to the corporate structure, which in result have significantly reduced the amount of overtime hours that the employees of Rockstar would put in.

With the inclusion of the first Latina female lead in GTA VI, the game is expected to release during Rockstar parent company Take Two’s 2024 fiscal year, which spans from April 2023 to March 2024. Code-named Project Americas, GTA VI, was originally intended to be larger than any GTA game to date. According to those acquainted with the game plans, early blueprints show areas that were fashioned after parts of North and South America.

It’s possible that this new female heroine will finally give the franchise the female lead it has long needed. Rockstar’s history of every new game being grander and more cinematic than the last provides high hopes for the future of the franchise.
