How Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson moves led Dany Garcia becoming a Latina sports league owner

Dany Garcia is an American businesswoman, producer, and IFBB Professional Bodybuilder, who became the first Latina sports league owner of the XFL League with business partner and ex-husband, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. The $15 million deal, made with RedBird Capital, was announced on August 2020, nearly four months after the XFL League filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy due to the corona virus pandemic.

Born to Cuban immigrants in New Jersey, Dany Garcia worked very hard for the “American Dream.” She earned a BA in International Marketing and Finance in 1992 from the University of Miami and joined Merrill Lynch soon after, where she became vice president. In 2002, she started JDM Partners LLC, a wealth management firm and stepped down from both roles in 2008, when

Johnson asked her to manage his career. Since taking on this new business venture, she has co-founded Seven Bucks Productions in 2012, which produced several films starring Johnson.

Some of them include Baywatch (2017), Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017), Shazam! (2019), Fast and the Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw (2019), and Jumanji: The Next Level (2019). Johnson has been featured in Forbes’s Highest-Paid Actors of 2019, earning $89.4 million; a perfect example of the saying, “Behind Every Great Man There Is A Great Woman.”

Dany Garcia has also become the founder and CEO of The Garcia Companies, which oversees a number of global brands in business, food, and entertainment. They include Atom, Athleticon, CAVA, Under Armour, Salt & Straw, Seven Bucks Companies, Teremana Tequila, TGC Management, and now XFL.

She has been a longtime fan of XFL and may very well be the first Latina sports league owner to own an entire league. She approached Johnson with the idea of acquiring it. Dany and Johnson plan on keeping the same infrastructure, while making improvements to the way it entertains fans. We can’t wait to see how our classy first Latina sports league owner will revive XFL.
